With 23 million refugees under the UN mandate, but 65 million forcibly displaced from home, half of whom are under the age of 18, how does the U.S. policy towards refugees and immigrants respond to this crisis? What is a Christian way to respond? Join us for a conversation with Gerry Lee, executive director of Maryknoll’s Office for Global Concerns, MOGC, the collaborative advocacy office of the Maryknoll Sisters, Fathers & Brothers and Lay Missioners.
Gerry and his wife Patti McKenna lived and worked in the urban barrios of Venezuela for 10 years as Maryknoll Lay Missionaries. Gerry focused on community organizing and human rights advocacy. They continued as Maryknoll Lay Missionaries for 12 years in the U.S. until Gerry joined the MOGC in 2013. He holds a Masters of Divinity degree from Weston Jesuit School of Theology and is active in the food justice movement in the U.S.
