June 2026
Dear Members and Friends of Dignity/New York,
NYC Pride’s 2026 theme is For All of Us, which resonates strongly in our community. In Dignity, we work for a time when all of us are recognized as full and equal members of the Catholic Church. What’s more, we stand in solidarity with our wider LGBTQ+ community and we refuse to be divided, especially as our trans members come under fierce attack.
“All of us” echoes the rallying cry of Marsha P. Johnson, a trans pioneer and hero of Stonewall. She once declared, “No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.” In a further tribute, her iconic floral head piece serves as the inspiration for our 2026 Pride T-shirts, designed by our own Daniel Velasquez. We will be debuting the shirts soon and giving them out to everyone who joins us at the Pride Witness and walks with us at the Pride March.
The past year has been an active and successful one for our Dignity community. As always, we continue to hold weekly Sunday liturgies, both in person and virtually, that celebrate all of us, in every aspect of who we are. Each one is carefully tailored by our Liturgy Committee and enhanced by the music led by our wonderful choir and music director.
Our weekly socials and many special events give us the opportunity to get to know one another and build the warm sense of community that we value so deeply. Our affiliation with DignityUSA and our history of activism connect us to a prophetic movement that has made a huge difference in the lives of LGBTQ+ people in the Catholic Church and beyond.
As we do each year during Pride Month, we ask for your financial contributions to help support our beloved community. As you may know, contributions to the Pride Appeal make up a substantial part of our annual budget. The financial report below shows our income and expenses over the first six months of the current fiscal year. Although we are currently enjoying an operating surplus, we anticipate that our expenses will increase significantly next year with the celebration of our 55th anniversary and an upcoming DignityUSA national conference.
We are sending out this year’s Pride Appeal by physical mail as well as email. The Pride Appeal will also be posted on our website: www.dignityny.org You may respond by sending a check to our mailbox (address below), by using the donate button on our website, by online banking or by Zelle.
You may also use the reply form below to renew your annual membership, which is a joint membership in Dignity/New York and DignityUSA. The fee is $60 per individual, or $120 per couple. However, membership is available to all regardless of financial ability, so please let us know if you would like to be a member but need financial assistance to do so. You may also renew online through our website.
We invite you to join us as we take part in these Pride events:
The Queens Pride Parade and Festival will take place in Jackson Heights on Sunday, June 7th, starting at 12 PM.
Our annual Pride Liturgy and reception will be held on Saturday, June 27th, at 3:00 PM at St. John’s and on Zoom. We found that our community really liked this “new” time last year and appreciated the opportunity to enjoy a late afternoon reception in the lovely courtyard at St. John’s.
On Sunday, June 28th, we will hold our annual Witness at St. Patrick’s Cathedral and take part in the NYC Pride March. More details will be provided in the coming weeks.
There will be no liturgy on Sunday evening, June 28th. We will resume our regular Sunday evening liturgies on July 5th.
We thank you in advance for your faithful support for our community, and for all your contributions of time, talent, and treasure. We look forward to seeing you at our Pride activities, as well as our regular Sunday night liturgies, both in person and virtually.
